Job Title: Director of Recruiting
Start Date: January 2012
What did you do before you came to Groupon?
I was a talent scout at Lightbank and a corporate recruiter at Echo Global Logistics.
Why did you decide to work at Groupon?
I have worked in the family of companies for several years and saw Groupon develop into an overnight phenomenon. I had been in many jobs where you couldn’t make an immediate impact and saw Groupon as an opportunity to do just that and to make a difference.
What was cool about this week?
Watching my team close some more difficult requisitions for the teams they support. Also, to help blow off steam and celebrate such a good week, we all played Catch Phrase last Friday at the end of the day. Everyone loves Catch Phrase.
What’s something you’ve done that’s not on your job description?
The recruiting team has done some volunteering events such as a career boot camp for the YWCA and a resume workshop for Upwardly Global. These are things that aren’t required of our recruiters but they constantly show they are open to sharing their knowledge and skills throughout the community.
Any advice for someone applying to work at Groupon?
Change here is constant and inevitable because we are such a fast moving company, so adaptability is a must have.
There are not many places you can work where you will you have the ability to challenge yourself daily, if you have the will to learn. We’re changing e-commerce as we know it.
Why wouldn’t you want to be a part of something no one has ever done before?!
What are you proud of?
The recruiting team members. They don’t always get the credit they deserve, but they are finding the future talent for Groupon. It’s a big job!
