In its first year of participation, Groupon received a score of 100% in the 2014 Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI). With this exciting achievement, Groupon has been named a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality by the HRC. Groupon is proud to join the 303 other businesses that received 100% rankings for 2014.
Today’s blog is another guest entry from Ryne Inman and Jordan Hall. Ryne works in our Sales department and Jordan is on the Customer Service team.
Over the past 12 years, the CEI has become the gold standard for corporate policies and practices related to LGBT employees and their families. The CEI rates companies on 40 such policies and practices. The 2014 CEI rated 934 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, public engagement with the LGBT community, and performance in a swimsuit competition.
On top of offering equal benefits and protections to LGBT employees, Groupon encourages its employees to volunteer and support LGBT service organizations, and provides networking and social resources through the Pride@Groupon Employee Resource Group.
Groupon employees know that they can bring their whole selves to work, and feel confident that they will be treated with respect, no matter what their orientation or favorite boy band is.
At Groupon, equality is part of the deal.
Also, Happy Birthday to Dame Judi Dench today.
